Ludwig).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Further qualifications:<\/strong><br>Facial plastic surgery, expertise in medical lasers, and primary care in psychosomatic medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Has been in private practice in Stuttgart-Botnang since 2008.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dr. Andreas Born and the Procedure of Surgical Wound Contraction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is surgical wound contraction a new treatment method? \u2013 Yes and no.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The elasticity of the skin, which is stretched over wounds or defects, is the fundamental prerequisite for any reconstructive plastic surgery. However, closing defects in the nose and scalp, in particular, is usually a very complex procedure to achieve good functional and aesthetic results. Even with many years of experience, complications such as impaired wound healing and tissue necrosis can still occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on these considerations, we have opted for an alternative approach\u2014instead of a single-stage wound closure\u2014involving gentle, gradual wound contraction over multiple sessions. Surgical wound contraction is based on the observation that a circumferential, circular suture leads to a reduction of up to 5 mm toward the center. In this process, the skin is not overstretched, and blood flow remains unimpeded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, to the best of our knowledge, the procedure we describe\u2014involving 3\u20134 sessions using individually adapted wound plates, as detailed in the protocol for facial skin cancer treatment\u2014has not been described in this manner before and may therefore be considered \u201cnew.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group quellen is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>* References:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thieme, V.
